Knitted Cherry Blossoms

knitted cherry blossoms pattern

Hi knitters,

Back in March the Knitted Cherry Blossoms pattern was released and was available only for Purl Avenue subscribers. As of today, this once exclusive pattern is now available for all knitters.

To stay up-to-date with Purl Avenue news, free patterns, and tutorials, be sure to subscribe to join the Purl Avenue family. Other perks include:

  • Members-only FREE patterns
  • Early bird access to giveaways
  • EXCLUSIVE members-only giveaways

If you’re still not convinced to join, that’s OK. You can enjoy the FREE pattern anyways. See below.

Also, if you’ve been following Purl Avenue on social media, you know that I’ve completed prototype I of the Summer Pullover. 85% of it turned out the way I wanted it to but I was unhappy with the sleeve. I’m now working on prototype II. Not sure if I’ll be able to complete this before the end of summer ☹ It looks like I’ll be adding another year to this pattern (going on 6 years).

Another update – be sure to be on the lookout for the next yarn giveaway. I’ve compiled your suggestions from the Build Your Giveaway Swag survey and have found the yarn that fits your criteria. It will be offered as the prize for the upcoming giveaway.

FLOWER ASSEMBLY

Assemble Knitted Cherry Blossoms

Cut the secondary yarn approximately 7 inches (18cm) long. Thread the yarn through the base of the petals (as shown below), tighten the yarn and tie a knot. Pull the loose ends of the petals to the back of the flower.

Fold the flower filaments in half and thread the tails through the middle of the flower. Use the loose ends to sew the filament section to the flower. Weave in all loose ends.

Knitting Abbreviations

CO: cast on.
K: knit.
P: purl.

k3tog (knit 3 together): insert the right-hand needle into the first three stitches on the left-hand needle and wrap the working yarn around the right-hand needle as if you would for a knit stitch. Pull the yarn through the both stitch and slide both stitches off the left-hand needle. You have now knitted three stitches together.

m1 (make 1): with the left-hand needle, pick up the strand of yarn lying between the last st worked and the next st and knit into the back of it.

sl1 (slip 1): slip the next stitch onto the right-hand needle without knitting it.

sk2p (slip, knit 2, pass slipped stitch over): slip the next st onto the right-hand needle. Knit the next 2 sts together, then pass the slipped st over the k2tog st.
