Ever wondered what else you can do with your used red Solo cup? You can get crafty and decorate it to reuse as a planter. Or perhaps a homemade birdfeeder? How about turning it into sustainable fashion? That’s exactly what this innovative student did.
Lauren Choi, a visionary engineering student from Johns Hopkins University single-handedly changed the game of sustainable fashion. Choi has developed a groundbreaking process to turn discarded red solo cups and other plastics into stylish, comfortable sweaters and beanies that are as kind to the planet as they are to your wardrobe. With the help of 3D printing, the yarn made from these plastics are woven into clothes that don’t shed microplastics.
