Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, it’s time to go full Christmas mode (or Holiday mode). Most of you will be shopping this weekend and some will adorn your homes with twinkle lights, ribbons, garlands, wreaths, nativity scenes, and more. When it comes to Christmas decorations and trinkets, one of my favorites is the candy cane. It’s rather simple, however, it’s a constant reminder of happy childhood moments. To share the joy of the holiday season, I designed a candy cane-inspired hat pattern, with the quintessential red and white stripes and topped off with a red pom-pom.
Even though this hat pattern is supposed to resemble a candy cane, just a few moments ago, as I’m writing this, it dawned on me that it kinda reminds me of Where’s Waldo. Whatever happened to that? Is it still a thing?

Whether candy cane or Where’s Waldo, it’s still a cute pattern. If you’re looking to get festive this holiday season, this hat is perfect for the occasion. Similar to the Self Striping Spectrum Beanie, I went with Bernat Fluffee in Cream and Loops and Threads Facets in Dark Pink. It’s important to keep in mind that these yarns are different weights, one is bulky and the other is worsted, and is knitted using US #10 (6 mm) knitting needles. As can be seen in many other patterns found on Purl Avenue, I like knitting and experimenting with different yarn weights and textures. To me, it adds uniqueness and depth to knitted garments. Okay, ready to begin knitting your very own Candy Cane Beanie? The pattern is available for free download on the Pattern Street app.
