Spring is here and so is cherry blossom season for many parts of the world. Earlier this month, the Large Knitted Cherry Blossom pattern was published and today, you’ll find the small version here for download. The Small Knitted Cherry Blossom is roughly an inch smaller than the large size. And for the example, I knitted it using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn, however, any worsted yarn would work. To achieve the pale pink color shown, I dyed the yarn in hibiscus tea.

What better way to give your knitted garments a spring upgrade than with a floral applique? Usage ideas include: Pin it to a hat, string several together to make a garland, attach several to stems made from wire for a bouquet, attach to gift boxes to make your gifts extra personal.

k2tog (knit 2 together): insert the right-hand needle into the first two stitches on the left-hand needle and wrap the working yarn around the right-hand needle as if you would for a knit stitch. Pull the yarn through the both stitch and slide both stitches off the left-hand needle. You have now knitted three stitches together.
m1 (make 1): with the left-hand needle, pick up the strand of yarn lying between the last st worked and the next st and knit into the back of it.
sl1 (slip 1): slip the next stitch onto the right-hand needle without knitting it.
skp (slip, knit, pass slipped stitch over): slip the next st onto the right-hand needle. Knit the next stitch, then pass the slipped st over the knit stitch.
