Skinny Lace Scarf Revisited

About 15 years ago, the Skinny Lace Scarf was featured on Purl Avenue, previously known as A Tight Knit Gathering back then. The scarf reflected what my style was back then: young, fun, and laid-back. However, many, many years later, I decided I’d revisit it. Plus, I really needed a quick knit project while I take a break from my mesh top WIP.

Unlike the original pattern which used bulky yarn adorned with sparkly sequins, the revisited Skinny Lace Scarf calls for cotton yarn with a smooth texture and a glossy sheen in DK weight, making it perfect for transitional weather. I also went up several needle sizes to produce that same airy lace look from the original design.

I kept the tassels because tassels make everything more fun. So to wrap up, I used cotton instead of polyester, DK instead of bulky, no sequins but kept the tassels, and went with a cool grey/blue color instead of purple. In turn, this scarf, after 15 years, is much more representative of how I am today. As we inch closer to fall, and hopefully with cooler temperature to follow suit, I look forward to wearing this with perhaps, jeans, a simple tee, and my newsboy cap.

Note: this scarf will curl. It is part of the design.
